Ghazal 11: Cupbearer, light our cup with the radiance of wine

ساقی به نور باده برافروز جام ما
مطرب بگو که کار جهان شد به کام ما

ما در پیاله عکس رخ یار دیده‌ایم
ای بی‌خبر ز لذت شرب مدام ما

هرگز نمیرد آن که دلش زنده شد به عشق
ثبت است بر جریدهٔ عالم دوام ما

چندان بود کرشمه و ناز سهی‌قدان
کآید به جلوه سرو صنوبرخرام ما

ای باد اگر به گلشن احباب بگذری
زنهار، عرضه ده بر جانان پیام ما

گو نام ما ز یاد به عمدا چه می‌بری؟
خود آید آن که یاد نیاری ز نام ما

مستی به چشم شاهد دلبند ما خوش است
زآن رو سپرده‌اند به مستی زمام ما

ترسم که صرفه‌ای نبرد روز بازخواست
نان حلال شیخ ز آب حرام ما

حافظ ز دیده دانهٔ اشکی همی‌فشان
باشد که مرغ وصل کند قصد دام ما

دریای اخضر فلک و کشتی هلال
هستند غرق نعمت حاجی‌قوام ما

Cupbearer, light our cup with the radiance of wine;
minstrel, sing that the world's affairs go as we wish.

In the cup we have seen the reflection of the friend's face,
O you who know nothing of the joy of our endless drinking.

He never dies whose heart has come alive through love;
our permanence is written in the register of the world.

The coquetry and airs of the tall ones last only
until our pine-swaying cypress comes into view.

O wind, if you pass through the rose garden of the friends,
take care to give the beloved our message.

Say: why do you put our name out of mind on purpose?
The time will come of itself when you no longer recall our name.

Drunkenness is pleasing in the eyes of our heart-binding beauty;
that is why they handed our reins to drunkenness.

I fear that on the day of reckoning it will have no advantage,
the sheikh's lawful bread over our unlawful water.

Hafez, keep scattering a seed of tears from your eye;
perhaps the bird of union will make for our snare.

The green sea of the sky and the ship of the crescent moon
are drowned in the bounty of our Haji Qavam.
