Ghazal 121

هر آن کاو خاطر مجموع و یار نازنین دارد
سعادت، همدم او گشت و دولت، هم‌نشین دارد

حریم عشق را درگه، بسی بالاتر از عقل است
کسی آن آستان بوسد، که جان در آستین دارد

دهان تنگ شیرینش، مگر ملک سلیمان است
که نقش خاتم لعلش، جهان، زیر نگین دارد؟

لب لعل و خط مشکین، چو آنش هست و اینش هست
بنازم دلبر خود را، که حسنش، آن و این دارد

به خواری منگر ای منعم، ضعیفان و نحیفان را
که صدر مجلس عشرت، گدای ره‌نشین دارد

چو بر روی زمین باشی، توانایی، غنیمت دان
که دوران، ناتوانی‌ها، بسی زیر زمین دارد

بلاگردان جان و تن، دعای مستمندان است
که بیند خیر از آن خرمن که ننگ از خوشه‌چین دارد؟

صبا از عشق من، رمزی بگو با آن شه خوبان
که صد جمشید و کیخسرو، غلام کم‌ترین دارد

وگر گوید نمی‌خواهم، چو «حافظ»، عاشق مفلس
بگوییدش که سلطانی، گدایی هم‌نشین دارد

Whoever has a collected mind and a delicate beloved,
happiness has become his companion and fortune sits beside him.

The court of the sanctuary of love is far higher than reason;
only one who holds his life in his sleeve may kiss that threshold.

Is her small sweet mouth perhaps the kingdom of Solomon,
that the engraving of its ruby seal holds the world under its stone?

Ruby lip and musky down: since she has that and she has this,
I pride myself on my heart-stealer, whose beauty has both.

O rich man, do not look with contempt on the weak and the thin,
for the seat of honour at the feast belongs to the beggar on the road.

While you are on the face of the earth, count your strength as a gift,
for time holds many who are powerless beneath the earth.

The prayer of the needy turns calamity away from soul and body;
who sees good from a harvest that is ashamed of the gleaner?

Morning breeze, tell a hint of my love to that king of the fair,
who has a hundred Jamshids and Kay Khosrows as his least slaves.

And if she says: I do not want a penniless lover like Hafez,
tell her that kingship keeps beggary as its companion.
