Ghazal 147

Last night the courier of the morning wind brought me word
that the day of hardship and grief is drawing short.

Let us give our torn robes to the minstrels of the morning cup
for this good news that the dawn wind brought.

Come, come, for Rizwan has brought you, a houri of paradise,
into this world for the sake of a servant's heart.

We are going to Shiraz with the friend's favour;
what a companion my fortune has brought to travel with me.

Strive to mend our heart, for this felt cap
has often brought defeat to a royal crown.

What cries reached from my heart to the moon's halo
when it brought to mind the cheek of that moon of the royal tent.

Hafez has carried the victorious banner to the sky,
since he brought his plea to the court of the king of kings.

Good news has arrived: the days of hardship and grief are drawing to a close. Rejoice and be thankful. A journey, or a return to a place you love, lies ahead, and you will have a good companion for it. Do not underestimate a wounded heart; make amends where you can. By seeking shelter in the right place, you will rise.
