Ghazal 148
When my beloved takes the cup in hand,
the market of the idols takes a fall.
Everyone who saw her eye said:
where is a morals officer to take the drunkard?
I have fallen into the sea like a fish,
so that the friend may take me on her hook.
I have fallen at her feet lamenting;
will it be that she takes my hand?
Happy the heart of one who, like Hafez,
takes a cup of the wine of the first covenant.
In your eyes the one you love outshines everyone. You have given yourself over to them completely, fallen at their feet, and are waiting for them to take your hand. There is hope that they will. Take joy in a love that has been in your nature from the beginning, and stay humble.
