Ghazal 350

به عزم توبه سحر گفتم استخاره کنم
بهار توبه‌شکن می‌رسد چه چاره کنم؟

سخن درست بگویم نمی‌توانم دید
که می خورند حریفان و من نظاره کنم

چو غنچه با لب خندان به یاد مجلس شاه
پیاله گیرم و از شوق، جامه پاره کنم

به دور لاله دماغ مرا علاج کنید
گر از میانهٔ بزم طرب کناره کنم

ز روی دوست مرا چون گل مراد شکفت
حوالهٔ سر دشمن به سنگ خاره کنم

گدای میکده‌ام، لیک وقت مستی بین
که ناز بر فلک و حکم بر ستاره کنم

مرا که نیست ره و رسم لقمه‌پرهیزی
چرا ملامت رند شراب‌خواره کنم

به تخت گل بنشانم بتی چو سلطانی
ز سنبل و سمنش، ساز طوق و یاره کنم

ز باده خوردن پنهان ملول شد حافظ
به بانگ بربط و نی، رازش آشکاره کنم

At dawn, meaning to repent, I said: "I will seek guidance by a casting of lots."
Spring, the breaker of repentance, is arriving: what am I to do?

Let me speak the plain truth: I cannot bear to see
my companions drinking wine while I look on.

Like the bud, with a laughing lip, in memory of the king's gathering
I will take up the cup and tear my garment for joy.

In the season of the tulip, give my brain some treatment
if I withdraw from the midst of the feast of joy.

Since the rose of my desire has opened from the face of the friend,
I will hand the enemy's head over to the hard rock.

I am a beggar of the tavern, but see me in the hour of drunkenness,
when I put on airs before the sky and give orders to the stars.

I, who have neither the way nor the habit of watching what I eat,
why should I blame the rend who drinks wine?

I will seat an idol, like a sultan, on a throne of roses;
of hyacinth and jasmine I will make him collar and bracelet.

Hafez has grown weary of drinking wine in secret;
with the sound of lute and flute I will make his secret plain.
