Ghazal 46

گل در بر و می در کف و معشوق به کام است
سلطان جهانم به چنین روز، غلام است

گو شمع میارید در این جمع که امشب
در مجلس ما، ماه رخ دوست، تمام است

در مذهب ما، باده، حلال است ولیکن
بی‌روی تو ای سرو گل‌اندام، حرام است

گوشم همه بر قول نی و نغمهٔ چنگ است
چشمم، همه، بر لعل لب و گردش جام است

در مجلس ما، عطر میامیز که ما را
هر لحظه، ز گیسو‌ی تو، خوش‌بوی مشام است

از چاشنی قند مگو هیچ و ز شکر
زآن رو که مرا از لب شیرین تو، کام است

تا گنج غمت در دل ویرانه‌، مقیم است
همواره مرا کوی خرابات، مقام است

از ننگ چه گویی که مرا نام ز ننگ است؟
وز نام چه پرسی که مرا ننگ ز نام است؟

می‌خواره و سرگشته و رندیم و نظرباز
وآن کس که چو ما نیست در این شهر، کدام است؟

با محتسبم، عیب مگویید که او نیز
پیوسته، چو ما در طلب عیش مدام است

حافظ! منشین بی‌می و معشوق، زمانی
کایام گل و یاسمن و عید صیام است

The rose at my breast, wine in my hand and the beloved as I wish:
on such a day the sultan of the world is my slave.

Say: bring no candle into this company, for tonight
in our gathering the moon of the friend's face is full.

In our creed wine is lawful, but
without your face, O cypress with the body of a rose, it is forbidden.

My ear is all on the word of the flute and the song of the harp;
my eye is all on the ruby lip and the passing of the cup.

Mix no perfume in our gathering, for to us
every moment the scent of your hair is fragrance enough.

Say nothing of the taste of candy and of sugar,
for my desire is met by your sweet lip.

As long as the treasure of grief for you dwells in the ruin of my heart,
the street of the tavern is always my station.

Why speak of disgrace, when my name comes from disgrace?
Why ask of a name, when I am disgraced by a name?

We are wine drinkers, bewildered, rends, gazers on beauty;
and who is there in this city who is not as we are?

Do not report my fault to the morals officer, for he too
is, like us, forever in search of lasting pleasure.

Hafez, do not sit a moment without wine and the beloved,
for these are the days of rose and jasmine and the feast after the fast.
