Ghazal 75: The sleepiness of your seductive narcissus eye is not for nothing
The sleepiness of your seductive narcissus eye is not for nothing;
the curl of your dishevelled tress is not for nothing.
Milk was still flowing from your lip when I used to say:
this sugar around your salt cellar is not for nothing.
May your life be long, for I know for certain
the arrow of your eyelashes in the bow is not for nothing.
You are afflicted with the grief of hardship and the sorrow of parting;
O heart, this moaning and crying of yours is not for nothing.
Last night the wind passed from her street into the rose garden;
O rose, this tear in your collar is not for nothing.
Though the heart keeps the pain of love hidden from people,
Hafez, this weeping eye of yours is not for nothing.
Interpretation of the fal
Every sign you notice these days means something; none of it is without cause. Your sadness and restlessness also have a reason and cannot be hidden. Listen to your heart and take the signs seriously: what you sense is real. Speak of how you feel to someone you can trust.
