Ghazal 95: The breeze from the curls of your hair keeps me always drunk
The breeze from the curls of your hair keeps me always drunk;
the guile of your sorcerer's eye ruins me every moment.
After so much patience, Lord, can a night be seen
when we light the candle of our eyes in the prayer niche of your eyebrow?
I hold dear the black of the tablet of my sight for this reason,
that it gives my soul a copy of the tablet of your dark mole.
If you want to adorn the whole world for ever,
tell the breeze to lift the veil from your face for a moment.
And if you want to drive the custom of mortality from the world,
shake your hair, and thousands of souls will fall from every strand.
The morning breeze and I, two poor wanderers without profit:
I drunk on the spell of your eye, and it on the scent of your hair.
What high resolve Hafez has: of this world and the next
nothing enters his eye but the dust at the end of your street.
Interpretation of the fal
The thought of someone is always with you and gives you no rest. You have been patient for a long time and long for a single evening together. Your aim is high and you think of nothing else; that single-mindedness is bringing you closer to your goal. Be patient a little longer and do not lose hope.
